Sleek Golden Shoes

Only Shoes In Mind...Books, Shoes, Music and Accessories

The shoes are said to be made of up-to-680g pure gold by an Italian designer in Wuhu, Anhui Province under the invitation from World Gold Council. Price? Most likely priceless. I would not think it would be very comfortable. Does gold give like leather? No. They make a showy statement!

This style is called “Dean” and has already been spotted by Shoebunny on Jessica. An elegant classic evening sandal - perfect for visiting a runway show. An unusual combination of black patent leather and elastic criss-cross upper gives these sandals a special twist. The sandals are also available in purple but Shoebunny prefers black color as it matches with lots of other accessoires and clothes.

Jessica wore the “Dean” sandals during her visit in Paris. Excellent choice, Jessica :thumbup_tb:

Senator's Shoes

22838546 Shoelover wanted it to be known that the little situation involving US Senator Craig has not gone unnoticed and despite being contacted by 3 major international news outlets, 4 US senators, 3 US congressmen, 1 presidential candidate, 4 Canadian members of parliament and 2 provincial legislators from Ontario (not George Smitherman..........he's married damn it!!)  about appropriate shoe usage in public washroom, Shoelover has refrained from making any judgment calls on the matter.

But speaking frankly, if propositioning someone for some hanky panky is a crime in the US, then they better start building some bigger jails!!!  In fact Shoelover could be doing a stretch as well depending on the statue of limitations

Rather, Shoelover is capitalizing on the opportunity and is in the midst of printing stickers that fit over the toe box portion of a man's shoe that will read "I'm not soliciting you, I just ran out of toilet paper over here and wanted to see if you had some".

TERI IN BLACK: ..."During her last visit to the desert we got our Boot Lady all leathered up in a very expensive, custom-made dominatrix outfit which formerly belonged to Mistress Tamara van Thomas of Rotterdam. Ms. Thomas was a regular advertiser in the European edition of DDI back in the 1990's but she is now retired. I bought the outfit, plus a few pair of Tamara's old boots, on my last visit to Holland. Teri saw it and immediately insisted on wearing it for one of our shoots. She knew exactly which boots to wear with it the moment she laid eyes on it, sleek black leather knee highs and thigh highs. What could be better! "...

High-heeled shoes are shoes which raise the heel of the wearer's foot significantly higher than the toes. When both the heel and the toes are raised equal amounts, as in a platform shoe, it is generally not considered to be a "high-heel." This tends to give the illusion of longer and more sleder legs. High-heels come in a wide variety of styles, and the heels are found in many different shapes, including stiletto, block, tapered, blade, and wedge.

While high heels today are mostly associated with female shoe styles, and the term high heeled shoe is generally understood to mean styles of spike-heeled footwear almost exclusively worn by women, there are numerous shoe designs worn by both genders which have elevated heels, including cowboy boots and cuban heels. According to high fashion shoe websites like Jimmy Choo and Gucci, a "low heel" is considered less than 2.5", while 2.5" to 3.5" heels are considered "mid heels," and anything over 3.5" is considered a "high heel"[citation needed].

History

Raised heels are stated to have been a response to the problem of the rider's foot slipping forward in stirrups while riding. The "rider's heel," approximately 1-1/2" high, appeared around 1500. The leading edge was canted forward to help grip the stirrup, and the trailing edge was canted forward to prevent the elongated heel from catching on underbrush or rock while backing up, such as in on-foot combat. These features are evident today in riding boots, notably cowboy boots.

The simple riding heel gave way to a more stylized heel over its first three decades. Beginning with the French, heel heights among men crept up, often becoming higher and thinner, until they were no longer useful while riding, but were relegated to "court-only" wear. By the late 1600s men's heels were commonly between three and four inches in height.

In 1533, the diminutive wife of the Duke of Orleans, Catherine de Medici, commissioned a cobbler to fashion her a pair of heels, both for fashion, and to increase her stature. They were an adaptation of chopines (elevated wooden soles with both heel and toe raised not unlike modern platform shoes), but unlike chopines the heel was higher than the toe and the "platform" was made to bend in the middle with the foot.

High-heeled shoes quickly caught on with the fashion-conscious men and women of the French court, and spread to pockets of nobility in other countries. The term "well-heeled" became synonymous with opulent wealth. Both men and women continued wearing heels as a matter of noble fashion throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. When the French Revolution drew near, in the late 1700s, the practice of wearing heels fell into decline in France due to its associations with wealth and aristocracy. Throughout most of the 1800s, flat shoes and sandals were usual for both sexes, but the heel resurfaced in fashion during the late 1800s, almost exclusively among women.

High-heels today

Throughout the last sixty years high-heels have fallen in and out of favor several times, most notably in the late 90s, when lower heels and even flats predominated[citation needed]. Lower heels were preferred during the late 60s and early 70s, as well, but higher heels returned in the late 80s and early 90s. The shape of the fashionable heel has also changed from block (70s) to tapered (90s), and stiletto (50s, 80s, and post-2000).

Today, high-heels are typically worn by women, with heights varying from a Cuban heel of 1½" height to a stiletto heel (or spike heel) of 4" or more. Extremely high-heeled shoes, such as those higher than 5", are normally worn only for aesthetic reasons and are not considered practical. Court shoes are conservative styles and often used for work and formal occasions, while more adventurous styles are common for evening wear and dancing. High-heels have seen significant controversy in the medical field lately, with many podiatrists seeing patients whose severe foot problems have been caused almost exclusively by high-heel wear.

We also now have the wedge heel wich is a new style to the heel. The heel is in a wedge form and contines all the way to the toe of the shoe.

The Sabrina heel is the standard for court shoes and is named after the Audrey Hepburn film of the same name. The Stiletto heel is named after a style of narrow-bladed knife, and is higher with a narrower base.

Reasons for wearing high heels include:

* they change the angle of the foot with respect to the lower leg, which accentuates the appearance of calves
* they change the wearer's posture, requiring a more upright carriage and altering the walk
* they make the wearer appear taller
* they cause the wearer's legs to look longer

Reasons for not wearing high heels include:

* they can become painful or damaging for some wearers.
* they can shorten the wearer's stride
* they can render the wearer unable to run
* The altered forces at the knee caused by walking in high heels, may predispose to degenerative changes in the knee joint.
* See "Foot and Tendon Problems" below for many of the medical reasons.

Men and heels

Although high heels originated as male footwear around 1500, since the late 1700s, men's shoes have had primarily low heels. The two exceptions are cowboy boots, which continue to sport a taller riding heel, and a brief fad for platform soles and stack heels for men in the 1970s[1](in Saturday Night Fever, John Travolta's character wears a Cuban heel in the opening sequence). Some shoe manufacturers now market heels with significantly larger sizes to accommodate men.[citation needed] Also, the Fall 2006 Dior Homme line by Hedi Slimane features 3.5 inch heels for men.

Accessories

The stiletto of certain kinds of high-heels can damage some types of floors. Such damage can be prevented by heel protectors, also called covers, guards, or taps, which fit over the "stiletto" tips to keep them from direct, marring contact with delicate surfaces, such as linoleum (rotogravure) or urethane-varnished wooden floors. Heel protectors are widely used in ballroom dancing, as such dances are often held on wooden flooring.

WOMENS’S HIGH HEEL SHOES

High heels have become an indispensable part of the fashion wardrobe of women across the world today. Their attractiveness plus fashion have ensured the growth of women’s high heel shoes into an industry in itself.

Women’s high heel shoes have been around for a long time, but recently they have gone through several transformations that have put high heels right at the center of fashion. This has increased the demand for women’s high heel shoes multi-fold.

Everyday there are new styles and fashions being introduced in women’s high heel shoes. Just as there are fashion shows for clothing, now fashion shoes are being organised to launch special collections of women’s high heel shoes. High heels are so much in fashion that even women who are uncomfortable wearing them want to own a pair.
WOMEN’S HIGH HEEL SHOES AND ITS EXTENSIVE VARIETY

The biggest USP of women’s high heel shoes is the wide range they are available in. When it comes to dressing, women tend to be really choosy about what to wear and what not to wear. The wide variety in women’s high heel shoes appeals to this tendency of women and attracts increasing number of women to buy high heels.

This is one of the reasons for the surge in demand and usage of sexy high heel shoes. Men too wear high heel shoes; however the range available to them is not as wide as in women’s high heel shoes. The simple reason behind this is of course the difference in demand – men don’t prefer high heels as much as women.

Changing times have changed the way in which women purchase high heel shoes. Where earlier it was necessary to go to a shop, it is now possible to buy women’s high heel shoes online. Various online shoe stores have come up with wide range of types of high heel shoes. The sites feature an online catalogue that has a huge collection of women's high heel shoes.

Ordering a pair of women’s high heel shoes from these sites is mostly really simple. All you need to do is browse the catalogue and place your order for the high heels you like. The shoes will be delivered to your doorstep!

Quick and Easy steps for learning to wear High Heel and High Stiletto shoes.

High heel shoes are normally classed as any heel height over 3" or 4" (inches), although this is a matter of opinion and can vary depending on foot size. Some heels can be as high as 6" or even 7" without a platform, whilst the 4 or 5" heel remains the most popular of the highest worn outside of the home.

Quick and Easy steps for learning to wear High Heel and High Stiletto shoes.

You may wonder how women can walk in such high heels, or if you are experienced at wearing 2 or 3 inch heel shoes, you may wonder how it is possible to achieve that extra inch or two. But through correct practice, experience and dedication it is possible.

If  you are experienced at wearing 3-4" heels shoes, you may realise that you have developed a natural skill for balancing, walking and carrying out daily tasks. Heel shoes change the angle of the foot and the weight that is placed on the heel will become more focused. Experience and skill is essential when walking in higher heels because the angle of the foot will become further steeper and the focus of the weight further focused on the heel and front of the foot.

There are many methods and ways for learning how to walk in high heel shoes and we have detailed some of the easiest and most common suggestions. Wearing of high heels may require what is often called as 'foot training'. Foot training will make the wearing of heels far easier for greater lengths of time. The full extent of foot training is not covered by these quick and easy steps and further information can be found at end of this section.

1.

Wear your heels in a sitting position and around the home first. After a period of time they will become comfortable and you will probably forget you are even wearing them.

If you are planning to wear heels outdoors or at a club on the weekend, wear them around the house for a few hours first until they feel natural.

2.

Try standing in front of a mirror and walking in a straight line placing one foot in front of the other. Walk away from the mirror and check the motion of your legs and body as you walk towards the mirror.

Keep your feet pointing forward and legs straight.  Do not slouch or and make sure you have a straight back whilst you walk.  Pick up items at different heights including the floor level keeping your knees together.

3.

Try wearing high heel shoes outdoors in the garden or even to the local shops. Wearing these on both soft and hard surfaces will give you a greater understanding of how the shoe will react and respond.

Tip: Do not place weight on the heel of the shoe when walking on grass, sand or other soft surfaces or the heel may sink into the ground and you could fall over. The heel of the shoe may also become scuffed or marked.

4.

When wearing medium height heel shoes try to walk placing the heel on the floor first with less pressure, placing more of your weight on the front of your foot, you will be walking more light footed almost as if you have a 'spring in your step'.

By placing less pressure on the heel you will elevate the foot slightly and increase the strength of your ankle, achieve better weight distribution and balance. By doing this over a period of time you will easily be able to wear higher heel shoes.

5.

If you wish to try walking in a pair of high heels and cannot afford a pair, try to borrow some from a friend. Ensure that they are the correct size, incorrectly sized heels will cause discomfort and lead to misleading effects when walking.

6.

Choose wide high heel and wide toe shoes that feel comfortable and easy to walk in. Pick a style and heel that fits your requirements and taste, and not  necessary the current fashion trend as the fashion is  always changing, although the heel height may not.

Consider ankle and knee high boots as they will provide slightly better stability and control.  As soon as you have mastered walking in a wider heel you should easily be able to swap them for a sexy pair of thinner heels.

Tip: Many good makes of heels have foam or gel innersoles. This will help cushion each step and make wearing more comfortable over longer times.

Some types (i.e. Marks & Spencer) are made from a stretch outer material with a foam and lycra® sock lining making them feel like trainers.

7.

Sitting with your feet on tiptoes with your heel highly raised from the ground will train your foot and ankle to be more accustomed to the right angle for wearing high heels, this will also make the high heel shoe feel more comfortable.

Try standing and walking around the house on tiptoes, this will help to develop a stronger ankle and better balance.  You can extend the time that you do this each day until you can perform normal household activities for longer times without placing your heel on the floor.

This exercise will help you to transfer the focus of weight away from the heel of your foot making it easier to wear higher heels.

8.

Try walking up and down stairs and laying out items on the floor and stepping over them, if possible hold a handrail for balance. You can also try standing on one foot whilst watching television or performing another task. This will help you to learn further balance and prepare you more for walking outdoors.

9.

It is not advisable to remove your heels and walk bare foot whilst you are out, there is a risk you may step on something sharp or someone may stand on your toe with their heel, especially in a busy nightclub. If your feet become tired try sitting down for a while and removing your heels.

10.

Finally, practice makes perfect. You may have to wear heels to the shops or to work many times before they start to feel natural.

The above suggestions are a few of many helpful ways for learning to wear high heel shoes on occasions or in every day life. Only through regular wearing of heel shoes will you improve your balance and ability to wear them. There are also many specialist websites that will provide further information for walking in heels.
